Shock Guard TGX Series
- High-precision type with no backlash and excellent rigidity during normal operation
- ・Due to its innovative ball and wedge construction, there is almost no backlash.
- ・The set torque can be selected by color-coded springs even in the same size.
- ・The lost motion during trip is very small.
- ・The unique assembly of the TGX Series means the ball and wedge configuration engages in only 1 position.
- ・Capable of detecting overload with the non-contact type TG Sensor and stopping the motor and outputting an alarm
- ・TGX coupling type is also available.

Construction
Operating principle - Ball and wedge construction (Pat.)
During normal operation (engagement)
Torque is transmitted from the hub to the drive ball (ball) to the driven flange. (Or the reverse.)
Pressure is applied by the coil spring to the drive ball (steel) so that it is held against the hub and driven flange. The contact area between it and the plate's drive ball (steel) is tapered, resulting in a constant gapless state between the drive ball (steel) and the hub's V-shaped retaining area.
This is the ball and wedge construction (Pat.).
During overload (trip)
During overloads, the drive ball (ball) pops out of the pocket and begins to roll.
There is no sliding, only rolling, so the nominal overrunning drag torque is extremely low for excellent durability.
Reset is automatic. The drive ball (ball) falls back into its original pocket when operation begins again.
As with the TGB Series, the five spots for the drive balls (ball) and pockets are unevenly arranged so that the ball will always engage in one position. There is no phase misalignment.

Options
TG Sensor
The TG Sensor is a Shock Guard specific proximity switch system overload detecting sensor. After detecting Shock Guard overload (movement of plate in the axis direction), the motor can be stopped and the alarm can be signaled.
