Operating principle
Animation showing the operating principle of the TGB Series.
Example for TGB08 - 16
During normal operation (engagement)
Torque is transmitted through several balls.
The balls are unevenly arranged so that they engage in only one position.
Balls are held and pressurized so that there are no gaps, and their engagement with the pocket creates no backlash.
Torque is transmitted from the center flange (pocket) to the ball to the hub (pocket) to the shaft. (Or the reverse. )
During overload (trip)
When the device trips from an overload, the ball pops out of the center flange pocket and slides between the plate and center flange.
Example for TGB20 - 50
During normal operation (engagement)
Torque is transmitted through several balls.
The balls are unevenly arranged so that they engage in only one position.
Torque is transmitted from the center flange (pocket) to the ball to the hub (pocket) to the shaft. (Or the reverse.)
During overload (trip)
When the device trips from an overload, the ball pops out of the hub pocket and rotates between the plate and hub.
The rotating portion when tripped is received by bearings so it rotates lightly and smoothly.
*TGB70 - 130 use the same operating principle.

Options
TG Sensor
The TG Sensor is a Shock Guard specific proximity switch system overload detecting sensor. After detecting Shock Guard overload (movement of plate in the axis direction), the motor can be stopped and the alarm can be signaled.
